St. Louis & Omaha Trip

What have I been doing? Well, the year ended well and there were the usual meetings, cleaning, and then I added packing to the week as well. I spent the first week in June in St. Louis, with a short weekend in Omaha. It was fast and furious, as usual, but quality time well-spent with family and friends.

I stayed with my Aunt Lori and family, but you wouldn't have known it the first few days. I spent those with Mandi and Sarajane. We ran, we enjoyed the Central-West End, Ted Drewes, the pool, The Hill--although we went to an Irish pub instead of an Italian place, but that's okay.

Midweek I spent more time with Aunt Lori. We got to enjoy the art museum and the Botanical Gardens where there were over forty sculptures by Nikki. Some are painted and some are done in mosaic. Some are for viewing and others are for climbing. Mandi and her daughter Elowyn (is that how I spell it Mandi?) joined us that day and it was fun to play around together.

From St. Louis I flew up to Omaha for Jenny Andel's wedding. Nina and I got to spend a day together and I got to watch her and Chris enjoy their wedding topper to celebrate their first anniversary. Chris wasn't too keen on the idea, but he humored Nina. And then he smashed the cake in her face. :) She loved that!

Jenny's wedding was beautiful--set in a small Catholic church in the middle of a cornfield in Nebraska. Nina and I were already looking forward to seeing Rach, but were hoping to see the Alberts, which we did! And then we were pleasantly surprised to see Sara, our floormate from freshmen year who went onto another institution after freshmen year. It had been eleven years since we last saw her, but she hasn't changed a bit...aside from expecting baby number four!

All in all it was a fantastic week and I wish I could have spent more time with everyone, but the little I did was quality.
