D.C-Day 1

Everyday was amazing, just amazing. We didn't realize how enormous the buildings would be in D.C. Truly, I should have known, I've been to Europe, I know the city has turned to Roman architecture for many of it's buildings. But I was still impressed.

I was in awe as I stood at the base of the Washington monument and looked out around me. Then I was in awe as we made our way along the National Mall to the Lincoln Memorial. It was just wonderful and to see it in person was the fulfillment of a dream. To think of all of the people who have made history in that city and to see what they have seen. It just gives me goose bumps. I'm not very eloquent this morning...too early. But it was just awesome.

I had the opportunity in high school to fund raise and go to D.C. for a week and I chose not to do it. I'm not sure I would have appreciated the city then as I did now. I'm glad I saw it as an adult.

There was something going on at the White House that day. Obviously there is always something going on, but you can sort of see the press core in front of the house. I tried to zoom in as much as possible. We never got a chance to watch the news to find out exactly what the fuss was about that day.

More pictures to come.

Looks like a great trip! I have always wanted to go to D.C. I'm sure we'll go someday, but it will probably be a while yet because of kids. Thanks for the pictures.
