Dreams

For a few months now, Jason and I have been discussing getting married. The where, the when, the how. But I told him I had a difficult time making any plans concrete, even in my own head, while we weren't officially engaged. Friday evening the dreams became a reality.

We went to Jason's Unit Christmas party downtown. He thought a group of us would then head to the Riverwalk to enjoy some music, however all of his co-workers decided to go home.

We decided we still wanted to go look at the lights and enjoy some coffee. I didn't want to go into a bar because it's just loud and smokey and I wanted to see the lights of the Riverwalk--they're amazing this time of year! So we did just that.

We walked along the river, looking at lights and talking. We walked past all of the touristy stuff to a quieter area. We stopped at a regualr bench first, but decided to move on from there. There is a little island off the river that is known as the "wedding" island. It has an awesome metal scultpure on it and I wanted to show it to Jason. We got there and were looking at the sculpture when he put his arm around my waist, and said,

"This is the most appropriate place."

Me (biting my lip and smiling): "Uh-huh."

Jason (while pulling a little box out of his jacket): "Will you marry me?"

Me: "Yes!"

We kiss.

Jason: "Will you marry without a ring?"

Me: "YES!"

He then opened the box to reveal a magnificent ring! We then moved to a bench to sit while he explained the ring and put it on my finger. The diamond is stiting on a yellow-gold crown with little diamonds around it--the crown represents Christ in our relationship.

So...now the dreams become decisions. The first is the "when." And we have no idea yet. There are lots of factors to consider--his move in February, my school year, my practicum, two cousins graduating, another friend getting married, another having a baby, and then my sister getting married in July..

I'd elope if I could have all of my family and friends there...

It was a break for projects. The most important was finishing, printing, and mailing the invite for Grandpa and Grandma's 60th Wedding Anniversary. This is almost the final result. I moved the "60 Years" over just a smidge because it didn't look right printed...but I still like the overlapped look...oh well...the print is the must important part. I used my Creative Memories srapbooking software to design this...I'm becoming a HUGE fan of digital scrapbooking!
